Biography
Father, the Devil, premiered at the Venice Film Festival. It went on to screen at international film festivals all over the world, winning many prizes, including the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Mind the Gap Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival. It received universal critical acclaim, including Independent Spirit Award and Gotham Award Nominations. Ellie is an alumna of Berlinale Talents and a BAFTA Breakthrough USA Fellow. She was also named one of 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine. Her projects have been supported by The Gotham, Film Independent, the Tribeca Film Institute, SFFILM Rainin Grant, and the Venice Biennale College. Ellie’s stories often explore pressing social-political issues within the African diaspora, aiming to shine a light on marginalized populations whose voices are seldom heard or included.
