In an age of climate anxiety, a young historian starts to suspect they may be humanity's savior after experiencing recurring nightmares and sudden hallucinations. A film about the beginnings that come from endings, what things can be built and imagined, even in harrowing times.

Biography

Laura Moss is a director and designer born, raised and based in New York City. They have been named one of Variety’s 10 LGTBTQ Creators On The Rise in 2023. They have been an IFP Emerging Storyteller, A Yaddo resident artist and a Sundance Screenwriters Directors Labs and Momentum Fellow. Their work has screened at Sundance, Tribeca, Rotterdam, and SXSW. Their production design and art direction work includes the films 306 HOLLYWOOD (Sundance, 2018), MENASHE (Distributed by A24) and YOMEDDINE (Cannes 2017, Egypt's selection for Academy Award Consideration).


Their narrative feature debut, BIRTH/REBIRTH, starring Marin Ireland and Judy Reyes, premiered in the Midnight section at Sundance 2023, and was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards (Best Screenplay and Best Lead Performance, Judy Reyes). Their spec pilot, EUREKA!, starring Karen Gillan, Jon Bass and Jillian Bell, premiered at Tribeca and won Best Director at Seriesfest. Their short film FRY DAY premiered at SXSW, was featured as a Vimeo Staff Pick and is currently on the Criterion Channel, paired with the classic satire, MAN BITES DOG.
