85% identify as women,
2% identify as men,
9% identify as non-binary,
& 8.5% were transgender
In the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative's annual study of directors of top-grossing films from 2007 to 2023, only 6% of directors were women, and only two films had trans directors.

By comparison, Dr. Stacy L. Smith and the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative found that only 22.7% of directors of top films from 2007 to 2023 were from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups.
Proof of Concept will see filmmakers through the production and exhibition of a short film, with the goal of supporting material that will lead directly to a feature or episodic series.
